The Silo table is an ode to sculptural modernism. Exemplary of our studio’s love of simple forms, it is clearly expressed as an impossibly thin horizontal plane supported by two halves of a cylinder. These curved forms look concurrently heavy and light. The 3m long table looks strong and solid from one angle and yet fine and hollow from the other.
A lack of ornamentation calls for meticulous detailing and is exemplified in how the corners meet beautifully and the supporting centre rail is fully concealed. The material choice celebrates functionality; linoleum, a hardy yet tactile material, was selected to clad the steel structure. While it feels like leather, its scratch-resistant surface develops a patina over time.
